How Gerrymandering Currently Affects Texas Politics

The ability of people and groups to impact elections is inspired in part by their numbers and in significant part by how many party supporters from the team vote. The design of districts lines has been politicized by dominant parties in certain states’ legislatures to assist them to win votes and control the outcome. Between 2010 and 2020, demographic changes impact elections, especially in states where a thin margin decided the past election. The rise or fall in the voter participation of various demographic groups could change the magnitude of the election based on their voter choices. For instance, when individuals migrate, and prospective new voters reach voting age, there will be a massive impact on the numbers in just about any state (CNBC, 2020). Likewise, gerrymandering favors one political organization over another by altering election outcomes. Gerrymandering makes elections less viable, harms minority communities, and frustrates voters. It also gives the impression that Americans’ voices are unimportant by denying them an accurate and verifiable election.

Besides, considering Texas’s political, cultural forces, and demographical changes, Gerrymandering will increase the number of qualified white voters as well as enhance the number of individuals voting for Trump in the previous election. It is at the heart of Texas where Gerrymandering is used against black voters (Carla et., 2022). Voters of color are dispersed throughout multiple districts, diluting their voting power where their ballots are essentially ineffectual in determining their political voice. For instance, the most current gerrymandering dispute in Texas arose from a lawsuit brought by a group of black and Hispanic organizations who claimed that the 2011iterationj of the district lines favored whites. Lastly, Gerrymandering affects the district regulation because of the legislative decisions that come along with it.
