Having got familiar with Hernando de Soto’s viewpoint on communism, it seems clear that he considered most promises of the left empty and illusory. De Soto was a straightforward follower of capitalistic ideas and fought hard to address the issues concerning poverty among the same believers as him. Overall, Hernando de Soto refuted the promises of communism while protecting the rights of people with his team of researchers in different countries.
To begin with, the perks of the left were always evident in the community, and while being incompetent in economics, Hernando de Soto opted for addressing the issue of apparent social injustice. According to Free To Choose Network (7:10), de Soto recognized the communistic means as a way of exploiting and conquering the vulnerable and, therefore, many people in Peru face economic-related challenges. The researcher clearly refuted the communistic promises regarding the protection of the poor and equal opportunities for any community based on his experience in Peru (Free To Choose Network, 26:34). To be more exact, he was astounded by the fact that 88% of the rural property was not regulated by law, and, thus, residents suffered from their land being stolen by the rich communists (Free To Choose Network, 37:02). In addition, Hernando de Soto focused on the fact that the legal system did not regulate most entrepreneurs’ actions. As a result, it appeared clear that communistic promises were not honored, and equal opportunities among residents of Peru were not presented.
To sum up, Hernando de Soto was entirely opposed to the communistic ideas as he did not see any leaders’ promises honored and, therefore, was a follower of capitalistic ideas and means. Consequently, de Soto opted for uncovering the truth and refuting the advantages promised by the communistic leaders. In addition, the researcher fought for Peru’s residents’ rights and thrived to establish equal opportunities in every community.
