Introduction
The devastating news about the current issue of wildfires in the state of Texas is hugely bothering and leads to wonder about the next steps of the government. The second-biggest state of the USA is now suffering from a natural hazard that has been going on for a few days now, and in this short period of time, it has managed to harm many people. The citizens are now forced to leave their houses and run away to save their own and their families’ lives.
Wildfiresâ Impact on Residentâs Health
The harsh nature of wildfires implies the high speeds of the fire spreading across the forests, wooden panels of peopleâs houses, and flora. Unfortunately, this phenomenon brings smoke into the air, which is unhealthy to breathe, so Texas residents may experience many health problems because of poor air quality. To be more exact, people who are exposed to air during wildfires can experience severe respiratory health issues and even bronchitis. However, individuals who already suffer from chronic heart and lung illnesses may have them aggravated because of the air quality. Naturally, people opt for leaving their houses and moving away from not only the possibility of contracting health problems but dying since everything around them falls apart. Sneha Dey claims that more than 58,000 acres of Texas State were burned, leading to many homes and administration buildings being destroyed as well (para. 1). Obviously, it poses a question about the following plans of the government about the restoration of the infrastructure and possible compensations to people for their losses.
Implication for Government Support to People
Undoubtedly, rescue teams and evacuation plans are already in motion for Texas residents. In addition, Greg Abbott also issued a disaster declaration for 11 counties to use any accessible government resources to respond to this devastating catastrophe (Dey, para. 2). Sneha Dey reports that one person died while trying to rescue others from the aftermath of the wildfires in Eastland County (para. 3). Abbott also estimates for 50 homes to be entirely destroyed in the process, and a few thousand residents to leave their lives behind to flee to other states or even countries (Dey, para. 4). Therefore, it is significant for the Texas government to create an action plan for recovering all the losses to people and the state.
Furthermore, the administration should help people heal after the wildfires by providing them with financial packages for them to afford to live outside their houses. As a matter of fact, there is another solution to the problem that includes the Texas government allocating funds to the neighboring states to host the people who evacuated from Texas. Overall, the current issue of wildfires is completely devastating not only to the residents of Texas but to the government. The administration is forced to allocate numerous resources, which may harm the state in the future when everything is in the process of recovering.
Conclusions
To sum up, the losses and the pain that Texas citizens must feel at the moment are beyond shocking and devastating. Thus, it is crucial for the Texas government to care not only about the areaâs infrastructure but also about the people who suffer from their destroyed property and have to run away from their homes. This moment is highly significant to the state’s hereafter because the government needs to make the right choices for Texas and its people to have their future.
