Changing Employment Sector in Public Administration

Chapter ten in this module has been useful in comprehending vital social concepts and public administration policies of employment in the U.S. Personnel working for profit-making entities are entitled to employment benefits, including medical covers and family leaves. Similarly, there is standardized legislation that regulates business practices in the employment of all institutions. Initially, I was convinced that private organizations were the only entities with enticing employment contracts. However, knowledge acquired from this module regarding public personnel administration will be critical in advancing management practices among state and federal agencies (Nigro & Kellough, 2014). The ongoing pandemic has transformed many economies affecting the economic structures of many countries. Female parents and children have been forced to work to facilitate basic needs during the tough financial period. This analysis, nevertheless, presents a personal reflection on chapter ten as discussed in class. The chapter acknowledges a changing workforce that requires new administrative policies for improving productivity among employees. In essence, responding to a changing U.S. employment sector requires objective and liberal public policies for ensuring a comprehensive and sustainable economy in the future.

As mentioned before, the pandemic has transformed traditional business models, which optimized physical stakeholder interaction within organizational premises. The employment sector has been affected by strict restrictions on regions with a high prevalence of the virus. As a result, employees in both private and public organizations are encouraged to work from home to avoid transmission in the workplace. This indicates that the American workforce is transforming the management of remote workers (Nigro & Kellough, 2014). The private sector has been strategic in adopting administrative policies that enhance productivity among employees by incorporating female professionals in the workforce. However, human resource officers in public administration are yet to integrate progressive policies for existing workers. Most importantly, chapter ten of this module has been critical in enhancing basic knowledge regarding public servants’ transformed employment practices.

Additionally, the topic with information on modern families’ economic attributes has been critical in understanding the transforming American workforce. The knowledge acquired from this section informs on the fight for gender equality in modern organizations. Specifically, women are actively applying for employment opportunities indicating a measure of growth. Traditionally, male professionals are perceived as superior to their female counterparts, as evidenced in assigned roles and responsibilities. Female professionals were unequally paid due to patriarchal policies among conservative management officials (Nigro & Kellough, 2014). In essence, this topic has attracted interest in the practical implementation of management and administrative concepts. For instance, formulating organizational policies regarding environmental sustainability is now practical in achieving reduced carbon emissions. Integrating the public sector initiative will be critical in enhancing American contribution to the Paris Climate Accord of 2016. The topic has essentially informed that administrative policies can equally transform public employment practices in state and federal agencies.

In conclusion, public policy can be useful in ensuring the successful transformation of the U.S. economy. The new administration can integrate personnel policies that optimize on responding to changing workforce. New regulations will require employees in the public sector to operate from home to manage cost and time optimization. This measure would stabilize new business models that suit the economic dynamics caused by the pandemic. The second decade of the 21st century will require public administrative officers to consider liberal management practices among public servants. Most fundamentally, chapter ten in this module presents sufficient information regarding the implementation of sustainable management policies. Achieving gender equality in the public sector will require integrating stakeholder interaction relevant to the changing economy. Most significantly, employers and employees in both public and private sector will require administrative practices which enhance and stabilize the American workforce.
