Today’s law enforcement agencies have a very important role in investigating crimes and apprehending suspects. They must pay special attention to the investigative process to draw legitimate attention to suspects. This means that law enforcement agencies must apply due diligence to confirm sufficient evidence to support a suspect’s involvement in a crime (The Policy Circle, n.d). In this regard, they must do everything possible to conduct effective investigations, as well as use established processes and regulations to prevent illegal action. They must also guarantee the protection of citizens under criminal investigation from unlawful acts by outsiders (Importance of law enforcement policies and procedures, 2021). Law enforcement agencies also should ensure that cases are handled honestly and transparently. They must make sure that the investigation process is transparent to the public and properly conducted in accordance with legal processes and procedures. Furthermore, they should guarantee that the data involved in the investigation is protected from outsiders and remains available to the public.
