The Cultural Motives Behind Political Intervention

In the modern world, political leaders use possible ways to win elections and the people’s hearts. Cultural activities are one of those methods used to lure citizens. They play a crucial role in society and are widely used across the world. Cultural motive is a very effective technique in politics and has been proven to win elections. This paper will discuss the cultural motives behind political interventions and why they are still significant.

Culture is essential in conflict resolution for any country as it binds people together. This is because it runs through people’s lives, giving them a sense of belonging, perception, and self-recognition. Cultural motives are assertive in protecting the identity of a country and its people. Politicians and people in power engage in traditional practices such as giving speeches in a local dialect and dressing in cultural attires to reflect and relate (McKay, 2021). In addition, they join locals in their places of worship to show they belong to the same religion and culture. This is vital in gaining the majority vote which increases the chances of winning the elections.

Other primary cultural motives behind political intervention are leaders manipulating and making the ordinary citizens feel confident that political leaders or parties belong to the people. They earn the majority of the followers by showing them their courage and readiness to stand for them. In addition, they criticize other religions and movements of the minority in the society to win the popular vote. Cultural motives are still essential, so political parties are focused on using them. This approach effectively gains the citizens’ hearts and voters from most of the population who feel part of the movement.
