Joe Biden’s Pressure to Lift US-China Supply Chain Tariffs

Every day has new things happening, which results in news arising every day of a human being. There has been so much news being communicated through different media such as radios, televisions, newspapers, and other news communication media such as CNN. For this study, I choose to look into Donald Trump’s trade dumping, resulting in a supply chain crisis. This has led to so much pressure being put on the current US president Joe Biden to resolve this supply chain crisis in relation to the current pandemic, COVID-19. This has also served as a source of the problem. Joe Biden is expected to lift the various business or supply chain tariffs imposed by the former President of US Donald Trump on Chinese-made goods (Lobosco). This is because the American importers have been paying more money on various levies leading to them facing skyrocketing shipping costs.

Get Woke

One of the great concerns of people in recent times is COVID-19 pandemic and how various business operations, especially international businesses, have been affected. This has resulted in great changes, especially in the supply chain resulting in people wanting renewal in the various supply chain and trading policies and tariffs. During the government of the former President of US Donald Trump, different supply chain tariffs were imposed, especially on their agreement or contract with the China government. Since that was before COVID-19 pandemic, the Americans have ended up incurring great losses when sticking to Trump’s tariffs even after his government is out of office (Williams 40). Now, the Americans are putting more pressure on President Joe Biden to conduct a thorough review of Trump’s US-China trading policy and make the necessary changes to cater to the skyrocketing shipping costs that negatively affect the US economy. This is because the Americans believe that a lift in the tariffs will enhance their ability to continue operating regardless of the existing pandemic internationally. This is such interesting news, and the curiosity of whether Joe Biden cares for the needs of the US citizens made me partly choose this topic.

Be Woke

Operating a business and making profits are two different things, especially with the current COVID-19 pandemic that has been the talk of the town for the last two years. Most people have been affected negatively, with most businesses struggling to remain in the market industry (Williams 40). But most of them expected the government to impose new favorable policies to help enterprises to continue operating. Therefore, this news impacted me directly because I got an overview of the people’s needs and petitions as well as how the government is responding to such petitions to help business continuity, especially under the current pandemic. On the other hand, the news outlined how the government hurts its nation’s citizens in the future when applying harsh policies and tariffs to hurt other countries. Finally, shifting the US-China policies and surcharges will also have a great impact on one side, resulting in other people complaining since not all businesses will be glad about the shift on those tariffs.

Stay Woke

  1. Is President Joe Biden’s administration’s first agreement action with the Chinese President enough to convince the Americans of a great change underway, or was it just another political way of blinding the citizens to calm them down? Explain.
  2. Should the Americans trust Joe Biden’s administration to solve the problem, or should they take the law into their hands? Support your response.
