Instead of reform and advancement in the economy, the revolution merely led to a lengthy conflict between Iran and Iraq that claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of troops and civilians, which is active nowadays and a current topic for discussion. Current political leaders do not stop such confrontation, which resulted in additional economic suffering for the nation by increasing the number of sanctions imposed on it (Afary, 2019).
