With so many guns in circulation, they quickly fall into the wrong hands, whether through theft or illegal sales. Moreover, gun control regulations would help to prevent mass shootings. These tragic events have become increasingly familiar in recent years, and action must be taken to address the problem.
Although many factors contribute to mass shootings, including mental illness and social isolation, the availability of guns is a critical factor that cannot be ignored (Eck & Clarke, 2019). It would not only reduce the quantity of firearms available and help prevent mass shootings, but it would also mitigate gun violence across the board, which includes lowering rates of homicides, suicides, and accidental shootings. While these measures may not prevent every death, many could be avoided. For instance, implementing comprehensive background checks and waiting periods would create barriers that make it harder for individuals who pose a risk of violence to acquire firearms.
Finally, it would help to manage the root causes of gun violence, such as deprivation, imbalance, and lack of access to mental health care. While it is proper that pistols are not the only cause of violence, they are a significant factor that cannot be ignored (Eck & Clarke, 2019). By decreasing the amount of guns in circulation and making it more challenging for individuals at risk of committing acts of brutality to obtain firearms, we can address the root causes of gun violence and create a safer, more just society for all.

In conclusion, the U.S. must adopt stricter gun control legislation. These measures are necessary to reduce gun circulation, stop mass shootings, curb gun violence overall, and tackle the root causes of the problem. Although the right to bear arms is often invoked, the severe cost to human life outweighs the value of this unrestricted freedom.
