Namely, to convince McNerney to shift toward a more ethical approach to addressing the city’s issues, Holman will need to anchor the proposed solutions in concrete consequences likely to affect all citizens, involving McNerney. Thus, a positive shift in McNerney’s perspective may take place.

Responding to Campaign Criticism and Managing Public Perception

Indeed, according to the case study, the citizens are mostly naĂŻve and easily convinced, which is why most unethical decision-making has likely been made without their awareness.

Promoting ethical decision-making is challenging, especially at the citywide scale. Holman’s situation is exemplary of a scenario that requires a complex ethical approach. Though the choices Holman faces are challenging, his focus on transparency and honesty will help him build rapport with city residents. Moreover, it will allow him to create a team that will help address current ethical concerns.
