Introduction
The legalization of marijuana is one of the most provocative and common issues for discussion in the United States, and the state of Texas is no exception. This region has been known for its lowest rates of people using marijuana due to the existing rules and restrictions. However, today, more attempts are made to re-evaluate the situation and prove the possibility of legalizing marijuana in Texas. Thus, illegal marijuana hurts Texans due to the growing impact of the black market, unclear medical purposes, and poor regulatory steps.
Negative Influences of Illegal Marijuana on Texas
One of the main reasons for illegal marijuana hurting Texans is the growth of the black market. Despite the intention to enhance control, people find opportunities to plant and distribute marijuana for their financial benefit (Bludau, 2022). Illegal marijuana costs a lot, and people who want to improve their health with the help of cannabis cannot afford this product.
Secondly, recent votes reveal that about 28% of the Texas government accepts the idea of marijuana legalization for medical purposes (see Figure 1). If healthcare providers and politicians believe in the worth of marijuana, its legalization should be promoted.
Finally, the debates between the Republicans and the Democrats concerning decriminalization and regulation continue to grow (Bludau, 2022). Until cannabis is legal, the government cannot impose the law to prove its safety and effectiveness if its usage is managed correctly. As a result, the current state of marijuana hurts Texans because of a lack of control and no guarantees for medical benefits.
Conclusion
In general, the examples of how illegal marijuana may hurt Texans are credible and appropriate. It is not enough to claim the decriminalization of marijuana because of its evident medical worth. Gathering the controversial aspects and introducing a solid ground for support is more critical. At this moment, the growth of the black market, the inconsistency of its medical and recreational purposes, and a lack of sufficient regulations make illegal marijuana dangerous for Texans and all Americans.
