Assault Weapons Ban Act
Weapon usage is a debatable question in the U.S. and causes much controversy among Democrats and Republicans. The “Assault Weapons Ban” act was introduced by Dianne Feinstein in January 2023 in order to influence the ever-growing influence of pistols (Feinstein, 2023). About a third of Americans now own guns for their sole purpose. This paper aims to disclose several guidelines and assume if the act could be passed.

There is some connection to the religious principle of not hurting anybody, for each person has a right to life. According to the biblical text, “for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10, n. d., 21-22). It signifies that the usage of guns undermines the safety of others if it is used improperly by the owner (Monsma, 2008). However, the proposed act opposes the Second Amendment, which claims that military forces should be well-organized in terms of weaponry and that civilians also have a legal right to bear pistols. Therefore, it is ambiguous if the act can be passed considering this basis.
Can
In terms of political feasibility, weapons should be banned for people not dealing with militia because they threaten society. There were numerous cases when guns were used inappropriately, causing the deaths of innocent people. While Democrats want to reduce gun violence without removing access to buying those, Republicans consider having a right to acquire weapons to be a root problem (“Assault weapons,” 2019). Meanwhile, the total cost of the bill can increase to $3 million as the law has been under investigation since 2022 (“H.R. 1808,” 2022). The major resources needed for the law implementation are the increased control of police over the citizens as well as the prohibition of gun stores.
Should
The introduced act calls for eliminating the pistols kept in private so as to diminish gun violence and crime rate. In the May section of the analysis, it is observable that the Second Amendment still grants individuals arm possession, so special conditions for ownership should be introduced (Kraft & Furlong, 2020). The Can section suggests that the debates between the Democrats and Republicans cannot pass the bill forward as gun abuse is controlled by the police and other authorities. Therefore, the law is unlikely to be accepted as the Constitution allows one to own weaponry despite attempts to pass it several times.
