A Renewable Energy Transition in Germany

Summary

Germany is experiencing climatic problems as a result of using fossil fuels and carbon emissions. The country is trying to make several efforts to combat climate change by using renewable sources of energy such as solar, water, biomass, and wind energy. The main objective is to transform from fossil usage to renewables leading to conservation of the environs and sustainable energy. Renewable energy transition increases energy efficiency and promotes job employment among citizens living in Germany.

Reflection

Germany’s renewable energy plan can actually work in the U.S. The use of conventional energy by power companies in the U.S requires high maintenance that results in greater costs of consumption. The best renewable source of energy that can be utilized in the U.S is solar energy (Brummer, 2018). During the summer season, solar panels can be used to convert sunlight into electrical energy. The electric energy can be stored in batteries for future use. Similarly, the U.S experiences winter and autumn seasons accompanied by prevailing winds. Power companies can utilize wind energy by constructing wind turbines that convert wind kinetic energy into electricity. The use of renewable energy reduces climate change and provides a sustainable environment; hence low costs of generating energy are achieved.

Resource Summary

In the current times, the U.S utilizes various sources of renewable energy to reduce global warming. The country has introduced sources such as biofuels, geothermal energy, wind energy, and solar energy (U.S. Energy Information Administration, 2021). In 2020, there was an increase in the amount of production and consumption of these renewable energies. During the same year, renewable sources of energy accounted for over 12% of total energy consumption in the country (U.S. Energy Information Administration, 2021). It has played an important role as it has led to the reduction of the greenhouse effect that causes climate change. Similarly, renewable sources of energy employed in the U.S have reduced the costs of importing energy and abolished the use of fossil fuels.
